OK, that was impressive! I can't believe that you filmed all that on a phone! You have inspired me to have a play with my smart phone to see what I can hack together in terms of a short film. I'm interested to know what level of ICT is used and encouraged in the school you were placed at. The school I was at had a VERY small ICT presence. They had a lot of new equipment, especially in the multi-media rooms, but most teachers didn't know how to use a Mac computer let alone utilize effective ICT in their classrooms. Did they have computers in the art rooms at your school??
Thanks Meg! You should get to it on your smart phone they are the coolest toys out. At my placement school this semester there was no student access computers for the kids to use. The teacher had a laptop which he used to show images etc sometimes. One girl had her own laptop and she was doing film editing on it so thats something. In my last placement school they had a couple of PC's in one art room and a couple of macs in another. Sometimes the schools network dropped out which made it hard to print. All the students had copy accounts on their student cards which were linked to big printers in the hall, the same ones the teachers use. So that was pretty cool. Most of the kids were pretty tech savvy but i didn't see that come thru in their artwork that much. The curriculum was heavily traditional as the teacher was traditionally trained in the 70's and focused on these skills mainly. She was highly tech illiterate, I made her a visual guide of screen shots of how to make a powerpoint and project it on the classroom projector! I hope it worked for her. I am really looking forward to using ICT when i start teaching! Please post your vid should you make one! :)
